Saavan

Every year thousands of pilgrims make their way to get water from the Ganga during the Hindu month of Saavan.  These pilgrims generally come by barefoot and are dressed in orange.  They walk hundreds of kilometers to reach their goal.

Fishermen on the Ganga

Fisherman on the Ganges

One of the most popular activities in Banaras is to take a morning boat ride.  You never know what you’re going to see, but it’s always exciting.  We love taking friends and tourists out on the river.  Worshippers come out at sunrise to bath and offer their morning devotions, fisherman begin their daily work, washermen do their laundry and children swim and play.  It’s definitely something not to miss.

Varanasi Ghats

A view of the Varanasi Ghats from the river Ganges.  The best time to photograph this iconic scene is from a sunrise boat ride.  Get up early!  You want to already be in your boat when that amazing morning sun hits the stairs.

Vancouver

We have been doing photo training for some years now, but we are excited to begin a new phase of Rebecca Cipolla Photography- photo tours.  It’s something we’ve been looking at adding to our business for some time. As we are traveling between Asia and America so much of the time now, there has been a growing desire from people we know for us to help them make the most of their travel photos.  What better way than to train people in the use of their cameras and then to help them take those memorable images in the most amazing places in the world.

And so, along with the beautiful portraits that you’ve come to expect from Cipolla photographers, we’re going to be posting images taken on our travels by our trainers as well as our students in our international photo tours workshops!

Here we are showing one of the breathtaking views of the Vancouver shoreline.

LaGrange Children’s Portraits

This little guy is a bundle of energy- I had a fun time trying to take his portraits. You have to shoot at high speed! I loved the lighting and colors in his room, so I asked him to just jump on his bed while I snapped pictures. He was laughing and laughing. I love this kid!

Balloons!

This was such a perfect day. This little girl was absolutely adorable, and she was so easy! (Imagine that- an easy 2-year-old!) We were driving around with a bunch of balloons, looking for a place to shoot when I saw these stairs on an old lutheran church. It seemed to be the ideal background for this little doll holding a handful of balloons and squeaking with delight. Oh, and don’t worry- the last one was staged. We didn’t loose the balloons- they were just back in the car. I just asked her to show me her sad face, and she pulled out a little sad face that would break your heart. The next minute she exploded into a fit of giggles! Love it!

Cody and Autumn

I love Oakhurst, the venue where Cody and Autumn got married just outside of LaGrange. This is our third wedding to shoot there, and I would recommend it to anyone getting married in the area. It was perfect for this beautiful couple, and I think it provided the most beautiful setting for this beautiful wedding. Cody and Autumn were so cute (and their wedding party was a blast). I wish you guys all the best and thanks for letting us be a part of this special day!

Sam and Gayle

I am very happy to post some of my favorite pictures from my brother, Sam and my new sister, Gayle’s wedding. It was quite a busy week getting everything ready, but it came together for a very beautiful celebration. I am so glad we were able to be a part of capturing the day photographically, and I look forward to getting to know this amazing girl better in the years to come. I love you guys so much!

Frank and Amanda

We had the opportunity to shoot Frank and Amanda’s wedding at The Catholic Church of Saint Monica in Duluth last week and then the reception at the lovely River Club Lodge in Suwanee. Every detail of the wedding was beautiful, and the bride was gorgeous. I think the thing I liked the best, however, was the love that emanated from both Frank and Amanda. I have shot a lot of weddings now, and I have rarely seen a couple as crazy about each other. You could tell that the wedding itself was secondary to just being together, and that’s always a blessing to see.

Wes and Casey

I had a chance to shoot Wes and Casey’s wedding at the Marietta Garden Club a couple of weeks ago. They had a beautiful ceremony at First Baptist Church Marietta and then their reception at the Garden Club. It was a jumping party in spite of a little rain temporarily frying the DJ’s equipment!  Oops!  I wish you both all the best!
